THE HISTORY OF CHILDZPLAY
ChildzPlay was formed in 1983 by Mitch Hoitt (Guitar/Founder). Mitch brought on Ray VanCour and Troy Nickell next (Bass and Drums).
Shortly after, Jefferey Fultz (Guitar) and Curt Caldwell (Vocals) completed the original CP lineup.
ChildzPlay’s debut album (First toy) was recorded in 1985 and quickly received consistent local radio support, launching ChildzPlay into a string of high-profile “live” shows around Idaho.
Within the next three years, Curt Caldwell leaves the band and is replaced by Mike Bell (who remains the Lead Singer for ChildzPlay).
In 1988 the band moved to Los Angeles, then to Seattle in 1989 and Jeff Morgan (Guitar) fills the spot vacated by Mitch Hoitt.
In 1991, Jeff Morgan is replaced by James Lancaster (Guitar) who tours with the band for the next year. In 1992, James moves back to Boise and Jeff Morgan returns to the lineup.
ChildzPlay recorded their unreleased second album “Big City” (1992) in Seattle.
Shortly after the completion of the album, ChildzPlay breaks up.
NOW IN 2024; Mike, Ray, Troy, Jeff and James (1991 lineup) assemble in Boise, Idaho to perform again! The band will also release the Big City album for the first time. Plus, The First Toy album is being remastered for release on all streaming platforms.
